A walk in the woodsI went for a walk in the woods near the house this morning. It's called Cannon Hill Plantation. A lovely day and there were lots of people with their dogs.

I wish I had a dog to go walking with.

And I find that people who walk are so friendly! Everyone smiles and says good morning, so uplifting. I thought that last year too, when John and I walked down the glen. All the hikers were so friendly. Anyway, the walk was glorious, and I took my camera for company.

A horse I met along the wayI was out there for over 2 hours, taking pictures and just enjoying the fresh air. I wish I could send you the smell of the place. It’s a mix between a compost heap and wet earth, but also grass and horses and something sweet. And there are dogs barking in the distance, and birds everywhere and leaves rustling because of the wind and things in the undergrowth.

My new friend who is a horseAnd today I walked further than I normally do (I go for walks quite often) and I came across a field with horses in it. When I stopped at the fence, one horse, a huge male the colour of caramel, came over to me. It was like he was saying hi and expecting a bit of food too. And he jus t stood there as I rubbed his nose and sides, for at least half an hour. It was weird, he just stood there and looked at me.

And when I started to leave, he turned his back on me and looked back over his shoulder, as if so say, “Fine, go. Be like that.”

I took some really cool pics of him too. It was so calm a peaceful standing there in the sun with a big hairy horse.

The horse I have named Caramel, but I have no idea what his real name is.

Next time I’ll take him a carrot.
